Launch & Grow Your Food Venture presented by Innovation York & Vaughan Small Business & Entrepreneurship

This workshop is for innovators who want to optimize their products to succeed in the marketplace.

Participants will learn how to evaluate opportunities and to build products people want to buy and retailers want to carry. Concrete examples will demonstrate how to create solid value propositions and identify high value market positions.

This workshop will change the way food business strategists and product developers think about R&D and help teams – both big and small – to use their innovation resources efficiently.

This workshop is brought to you in partnership with YSpace‘s York Region Food Accelerator. YSpace is home to one of the first of its kind in the GTA food accelerator program, and is a partnership with YSpace, The Regional Municipality of York Region and the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative. YSpace Food Accelerator helps promising food and beverage consumer-packaged goods (CPG) ventures build their strategy, grow their network and scale their business.


Dana McCauley, Founder

Dana McCauley has a nose for the new and a knack for bringing profitable food product concepts that fulfill unmet consumer needs to market. Her resume includes successful launches working with international food companies, entrepreneurs and SME’s alike. Dana was an on-air judge for seasons one and two of reality TV show Recipe to Riches where consumers competed to have their home recipes turned into Loblaw products.

Dana was the founding Executive Director for Food Starter, a Toronto based food business incubator and accelerator. Under Dana’s leadership, in just 18 months Food Starter clients launched over 80 product lines and created +160 food sector jobs and the organization itself was recognized with a Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence!

As Director of New Venture Creation in the Research Innovation Office at the University of Guelph, Dana’s team enables Canada’s smartest agri-food minds to transform their inventions into innovations that grow the economy and enhances Canada’s international reputation as a place where great ideas and safe food are abundant.

Dana maintains a public profile as a contributor of insights on food trends and innovation for the media and as a keynote speaker at Canadian and International food industry events. She is the President of the SIAL Canada Innovation Award jury and in 2017, Dana was recognized as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women in the Trailblazers and Trendsetters category.
